Together with our partners from Germany, we visited the Saint Joseph foundation home for assessment on their living standards and environment. We visited them with some food items and also carried out an interview on their needs. During the interview, we discovered that there is a problem with the education train of the children because the ages don’t actually tally with the level of education.
For example in this recent generation we expect a child of 15 years to be approaching her ordinary level but if we look at the case of Miranda being 15 years old and she is in form 2.
Another example is the Sharon being 11 years old yet still in primary school and at class 4 but with the educational principle a child of 11 years should at least be entering into his/her secondary education.
This was a call for concern so after listening to the children we had to ask the matron some questions concerning the education of the children. She expressed the problem of fees which is a big problem and reason why the children have these lapses in education and therefore the organization together with the matron did a random selection to assist three children with their education by sponsoring them till they achieve their desired goal.
